A new research study conducted by the University of Slacking off has revealed that the most popular excuse for coming in late to work is the Zombie Apocalypse. Over half of the surveyed workers claimed that they were held up by the undead hordes, while the other half gave more mundane excuses such as traffic or oversleeping. 

 

"The Zombie Apocalypse is a perfect excuse for coming in late to work," said Professor Snooze of the University of Slacking off. "It's an incredibly believable excuse and it's also a great way to get out of doing any actual work." 

 

The survey also revealed that the second most popular excuse for coming in late to work was a malfunctioning time machine. This excuse was particularly popular among the younger respondents and was used to explain everything from being late for a meeting to not showing up for an entire day of work. 

 

"Time machines are becoming increasingly popular as a way to avoid responsibility," said Professor Snooze. "Unlike the Zombie Apocalypse, it's a little harder to verify the truth of this excuse, but it's still a great way to get out of doing any actual work." 

 

The survey also revealed that the third most popular excuse for coming in late to work was “my pet was abducted by aliens”. This excuse was particularly popular among the older respondents and was used to explain why they had not made it to work on time. "Pet alien abductions are becoming increasingly popular as a way to excuse being late for work," said Professor Snooze. "It's hard to verify the truth of this excuse, but it's still a great way to get out of doing any actual work. Plus, it's a lot more fun to talk about than traffic or oversleeping." So the next time you're running late for work, don't blame it on traffic or oversleeping. Blame it on the Zombie Apocalypse, a malfunctioning time machine, or a pet alien abduction!
